We are delighted to announce that the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has given Hampton Care Home a ‘good’ rating in the well-led category following a focused two-day inspection in January. The inspectors looked at two areas – safe and well-led – with the home being assessed as ‘good’ in both categories and ‘good’ overall.

As part of its recent inspection, the CQC spoke with staff, relatives and professional contacts. The inspectors found that Hampton was a safe place to live and that staff treated residents well. One relative told inspectors: “My relative is one hundred percent safe at the home.”

The inspectors were also satisfied with our infection prevention and control (IPC) procedures, including those associated with Covid-19, such as testing, safe visiting and good hygiene practices.

The report found that staff demonstrated a good understanding of the risks people might face – such as falls – and actions needed to prevent or minimise those risks. This was commented on by one community-based healthcare professional who said: “I would say they take residents with complex needs, which staff are able to manage-well, particularly on the dementia floor.”

The report described the home as ‘consistently managed and well-led’ with leaders and a culture that promoted ‘high-quality, person-centred care’. One relative commented: “The staff have been fantastic and have got to know exactly what my relative needs and wants”. A healthcare professional added: “I am frequently impressed by the in-depth knowledge and insight staff have about my clients.”

Home manager Margielyn Lopez Gonzaga says: “We are delighted with CQC’s findings, and feel that this very positive report is a testament to everyone’s hard work and commitment during what has been an incredibly challenging and stressful time for all of us. However, we are determined to build on our achievements and will strive to attain an outstanding rating next time!”
